Friendships Go From Digital To In-Person At Wood Park

Wood Park second graders welcomed their digital pen pals from Sycamore Avenue Elementary School in Connetquot for an in-person meeting on Friday morning at Wood Park.
The connection between the two classes began in November, with the students utilizing Book Creator to introduce themselves and exchange their interests with their pen pals through images and text. This initial digital interaction was followed by a Google Meet in December, where the students had the opportunity to converse directly about their interests and holiday traditions. The in-person meeting served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the connections formed through their digital exchanges.
Students formed into teams from both schools and participate in a GooseChase digital scavenger hunt. This activity provided a fun and interactive way for them to explore the playground together.
The collaborative initiative was led by Computer Technology TA Cheryl Towle and Executive Director of Innovation and Technology Alise Pulliam.
