The Commack School District is able to offer students (in grades 4 through 12 that are part of our band and orchestra program) a selection of school-owned instruments to rent throughout the year. Please note that school-owned instrument rentals will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on availability.
The following instruments are available for rent: viola, cello, string bass, oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba.
The following instruments are not available for rent: violin, flute, Bb clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, xylophone/snare drum.
Rental fees are $75 for the school year (September-June) and $20 for the Summer (July-August).
Please review the following steps to rent a school-owned instrument:
Step 1: Speak with your child's music teacher to make sure an instrument is available for you to rent. You should not pay for a school rental until you have been notified a school-owned instrument is available for you.
Step 3: Please show your schoolpay receipt to your child's music teacher. They will generate a contract for you to sign and return (via hard copy or email). All rentals should be finalized prior to the first Friday in the month of October.
Step 4: You will receive an instrument soon after.
Summer Rentals: Please note that if your child is transitioning from an Intermediate School to Middle School, or from Middle School to High School, the instrument you will rent will come from the building you will be entering. Please reach contact our lead teachers to arrange the pickup and signing of a summer instrument rental contract:
