Burr students again opened their hearts for the ALS Ride for Life on Thursday afternoon.

Dave Phillips, Jordan Tarozzi and Commack's Desi Kessler, all of whom are dealing with the effects of ALS, offered their heartfelt thanks to students during an inspiring assembly in the auditorium.

Burr has been partners with the ALS Foundation for the past 25 years.

The students on Thursday donated $5,000 they had raised in recent months.

In a particularly moving moment, they also sang the ALS Ride for Life song.

"Just like Ride for Life, Burr spends a lot of time focusing on the importance of community and how we are stronger and better off when we work together," principal Dan Ciccone said.
