CHS Students Mark Memorial Day by Placing Flags at Long Island National Cemetery

Members of the CHS National History Honor Society honored those who have served our country on Saturday at their final resting place.
The students marked the Memorial Day weekend by joining civic groups, including Boy Scout troops, in placing a flag at the grave of each service member at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale.
Honor society advisor AnnMarie D’Orazi observed the students being struck by the young ages on the headstones of some service members who died serving the country.
Volunteers are also requested at the cemetery next Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to help collect the flags. The 364-acre cemetery includes 364,000 internments.
