North Ridge First Graders Turn Wool into Yarn

North Ridge first graders are learning about the resourcefulness of settlers during the nation's early days.
Sam Benner from Benner's Farm in Setauket visited on Thursday to explain how settlers used wells to get filtered water, built one-room homes from wood, and hunted turkeys and fished.
The students then had the opportunity for hands-on activities, including using a drop spindle to turn wool into yarn, writing with a quill and making a spin top.
