W's ... And A's: Every CHS Fall Varsity Sport Recognized by State for Academics

Make it a clean sweep!
Not only are CHS student-athletes achieving in competition, they’re also excelling in the classroom.
The latest evidence: The New York State Pubic High School Athletic Association has recognized all 13 varsity fall sports at CHS as Scholar-Athlete teams.
To achieve Scholar-Athlete status, three-quarters of the team’s student-athletes must have achieved at least a 90 GPA while in-season during the fall term.
In all, 212 CHS student-athletes were individually recognized for achieving that GPA while in-season this past fall.
The CHS teams recognized: boys cross country, boys golf, boys soccer, boys volleyball, field hockey, football, game day cheerleading, girls cross country, girls soccer, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis, girls volleyball and gymnastics.
Now in its 33rd year, the Scholar-Athlete program continues to emphasize the role of academic excellence within education-based athletics.
“The Scholar-Athlete program remains one of the most meaningful recognitions we provide as an association,” NYSPHSAA executive director Dr. Robert Zayas said. “The dedication shown by these student-athletes — balancing rigorous academic responsibilities with their commitments to interscholastic athletics — is truly remarkable.”
