IB Italian Students Experience The Bronx's Arthur Ave.
CHS students enjoyed an authentic Italian cultural experience during a visit to the Bronx on Tuesday.
The day began for the IB Italian students at Fordham, where university Italian professor Dr. Kathleen LaPenta greeted the students in a room inside the Duane Library with a replica of Michelangelo’s painting from the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling.
LaPenta also had prepared a walking tour of the Belmont neighborhood near campus, during which students listened to an oral history of the Italian immigrant experience in the Bronx.
The day concluded with the students visiting Arthur Avenue’s famed market and other shops to experience the cuisine.
